Courtney Viscount completed her Yoga Teacher Training in March 2014, at Kirpalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts. She is a member of KYAA and an RYT200 with Yoga Alliance.org . Courtney also has her Grade 8 in Ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance and more than 8 years experience teaching Ballet and Belly Dance to children and adults . Becoming a Yoga Teacher was a natural progression in her life long dedication to movement and fitness. She currently teaches in Port Hope and Cobourg, Ontario.
Spring 2016, she expanded her training at Kirpalu with a 40 hour Course lead by the developer of Trauma-Sensitive Yoga , David Emerson, director of yoga services at the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute in Brookline, Massachusetts.
This subject is important to Courtney. She is well acquainted with the benefits that Yoga can achieve. In her own life she has used meditation , poses and the yogic philosophy to help overcome the unsettling effects of experiencing a ship wreck. While taking University courses aboard a Tall Ship , the school year was cut short by a storm which caused the sinking of the ship . Despite this event in her life , or perhaps because of it, Courtney has a strong sense of adventure combined with an equally strong understanding of how to turn inward to recharge. Her classes inspire her students with both the adventure of experiencing yoga as well as the ability to tune into themselves to find their internal strength.
